ECB's Policy Stance During a Country-Specific Shock

The European Central Bank (ECB) maintains a constant monetary policy in response to a country-specific shock that does not affect overall eurozone inflation. For example, if a demand shock hits only Spain, the ECB will not change its interest rates, as its mandate is to target inflation for the entire currency union, not individual member states.
