Electrical Supply Vendor in Job Costing

In an electrical contracting business, a vendor—also referred to as a supplier or distributor—is the business that provides materials and equipment needed for a job. Typical products may include cable, raceway, load centers, circuit breakers, enclosures, connectors, lighting fixtures, and similar items. When a job cost is tracked, purchases from that source are entered as material costs, not as subcontracted work or as the contractor’s own labor.
