Empirical Analysis in Economics

Empirical analysis in economics is the process of using observed data and statistical methods to investigate economic questions, test hypotheses, and estimate relationships among measurable variables. Economists compare findings with theoretical predictions; the results may support, challenge, or motivate revision of an explanation, but agreement with one dataset does not prove that a theory is universally valid.
