Empirical Challenges to Set-Point Theory

A significant limitation of the set-point theory is that some of its predictions are not supported by empirical evidence. For example, the theory's claim of compensatory metabolic changes is challenged by studies showing no significant difference in metabolic rate between individuals who have recently lost substantial weight and a control group.
