Employment Sectors for 2009 Psychology Doctorates
A 2011 report by Michalski, Kohout, Wicherski, and Hart detailed the employment sectors for individuals who completed their psychology doctorates in 2009. The largest portion of these graduates, 26%, worked at universities. Hospitals and health services employed 25%, while government and Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers accounted for 16%. The remaining graduates worked in businesses or nonprofits (10%), other educational institutions (8%), medical schools (6%), and independent practices (6%).
