Escalation of Guard Behavior in the Stanford Prison Experiment

In the experiment, participants assigned as 'guards' rapidly and enthusiastically embraced their roles, with their behavior escalating to sadistic levels in a very short time. By the second day, their harassment of 'prisoners' involved stripping them, confiscating their beds, using solitary confinement, denying privacy, removing basic comforts like mattresses, and imposing degrading chores and late-night counts.
