Evaluating an Alternative Choice After a Wage Increase

An individual's wage increases, leading them to a new optimal choice of working 6 and 2/3 hours per day to earn €300, leaving 17 and 1/3 hours of free time. A colleague argues that this choice is irrational, stating that with a higher wage, the individual should have worked the same number of hours as before (or even more) to maximize their income and take full advantage of the raise. Critically evaluate the colleague's argument. In your answer, explain why the individual's new choice can be considered optimal, even if it doesn't maximize income.
