Evaluating an Experimental Design for Predicting Behavior

A team of social scientists designs an experiment to measure pro-environmental attitudes. University students are asked to play a computer game where they manage a virtual budget. They can choose to invest their virtual currency in 'green' projects (like renewable energy) or 'conventional' projects (like fossil fuels). The researchers propose that the percentage of virtual currency a student invests in 'green' projects will predict their real-world environmental behaviors, such as recycling habits and energy consumption.

Critique this experimental design. Based on the principles of how controlled observations can forecast real-life actions, evaluate the strength of the connection between the students' choices in the game and their likely behavior outside the experiment. Justify your reasoning.
