Evaluating Copyright Extension Policy

A government proposes extending the legal period during which a book's content is protected from being freely copied, effectively increasing the time an author or publisher can exclusively charge for access. Evaluate the economic arguments for and against this proposal. Your evaluation should be based on the dual nature of the book's information: one person reading the story does not prevent others from also reading it, yet the legal protection allows the owner to prevent people from accessing it without payment.
