Short Answer

Evaluating Experimental Protocol

In an experiment, a 'Proposer' is given $10 and must offer a portion of it to a 'Responder'. If the Responder accepts the offer, the money is split as proposed. If the Responder rejects the offer, neither person receives any money. A researcher modifies the standard procedure by telling each Proposer that their Responder is a student from a rival university known for its competitive culture. Explain how this piece of information could systematically alter the Proposers' offers and why this compromises the goal of the experiment.
