A student argues that a population of animals in a large, isolated habitat with a fixed food supply will continue to grow indefinitely, just at a slower rate as it gets bigger. Evaluate this argument. In your response, explain the relationship between population size, resource availability per individual, and the demographic changes (birth and death rates) that ultimately lead to a stable population size.
