Demographic Response and Equilibrium in the Antelope Analogy

As living standards decline due to resource scarcity, the antelope herd experiences a demographic response where individuals have fewer offspring and die younger. This reaction causes the population's growth rate to slow down, a process that continues until living standards reach the subsistence level. At this point, an equilibrium is achieved, and the herd's size stabilizes, no longer increasing.
