Evaluating Stable Outcomes in a Specialization Game

Imagine two partners who must independently decide whether to focus on 'Marketing' or 'Product Development'. Their success depends on specializing in different areas. This scenario results in two stable outcomes:

  1. Partner 1 chooses Marketing, Partner 2 chooses Product Development. Payoffs: (Partner 1 gets 50, Partner 2 gets 40).
  2. Partner 1 chooses Product Development, Partner 2 chooses Marketing. Payoffs: (Partner 1 gets 30, Partner 2 gets 25).

Critically evaluate these two stable outcomes from the perspective of the partnership. Which outcome is better for the partners collectively, and why? Despite one outcome being better, explain why the less desirable outcome is still considered 'stable'.
