Case Study

Evaluating Study Strategies

A student has a major final exam in 12 hours. They have reviewed most of the material but feel they need more time. They are considering two options:

Option A: Study for the next 10 hours straight, sleeping for only 2 hours before the exam. Option B: Study for 3 more hours, then get 8 hours of sleep before the exam.

Evaluate these two options. Which strategy is more likely to result in a better exam performance, and why? Justify your answer by explaining the cognitive trade-offs involved in each choice.
