Counterproductivity of All-Night Cramming for Tests

The practice of studying throughout the night before an exam, often called 'cramming,' can be counterproductive. While it increases study time, the resulting sleep deprivation impairs critical cognitive functions like attention and memory recall. Consequently, the negative effects of sleep loss on the brain can nullify the benefits of the extra studying, potentially leading to worse academic performance.
