Evaluating the Impact of Competition on Bargaining Power

In a simple 'take-it-or-leave-it' bargaining game, a Proposer offers a split of a sum of money to a single Responder. If the Responder rejects the offer, both get nothing. Now, consider a modification where a second, competing Responder is introduced; the first one to accept the Proposer's offer gets the money, and the other two participants get nothing. Evaluate the claim that this modification fundamentally shifts the bargaining power from the Responder(s) to the Proposer. In your answer, explain the mechanisms through which this power shift occurs, considering the strategic incentives for each party.
