Evaluating the Relationship Between Wage and Hours Gaps

An economic analysis of several developed countries reveals a common pattern: the percentage difference in paid work hours between men and women (the 'hours gap') is substantially larger than the percentage difference in their hourly wages (the 'wage gap'). For instance, in one country, the hours gap is 43% while the wage gap is only 16%. Based on this finding, evaluate the argument that policies aimed solely at closing the wage gap would be sufficient to eliminate the hours gap. In your response, propose and justify two distinct factors, other than wage differences, that likely contribute to the observed hours gap.
