First, observe that each xx-value is paired with only one yy-value, which confirms that the relation is a valid mathematical function. Next, to determine if the function is one-to-one, check whether any yy-value corresponds to multiple xx-values. In this set, the yy-value 88 is paired with both x=4x = -4 and x=4x = 4. Similarly, the yy-value 44 is paired with both x=2x = -2 and x=2x = 2, and the yy-value 22 is paired with both x=1x = -1 and x=1x = 1. Because some yy-values correspond to more than one xx-value, this function is not one-to-one.
