Example: Graphing the Function f(x)=x3f(x) = -x^3

To graph the function f(x)=x3f(x) = -x^3, we select xx-values, apply the function to find the corresponding yy-values, and plot the resulting ordered pairs. For example, using the xx-values 2-2, 1-1, 00, 11, and 22 produces the corresponding yy-values 88, 11, 00, 1-1, and 8-8. By plotting the points (2,8)(-2, 8), (1,1)(-1, 1), (0,0)(0, 0), (1,1)(1, -1), and (2,8)(2, -8) on a rectangular coordinate system and connecting them, we form the required downward-sloping curve.
