Example of a CT Scan Diagnosing a Brain Tumor

A computerized tomography (CT) scan can be used to identify brain tumors by highlighting differences in tissue density. For example, a CT scan of a healthy brain displays fairly uniform brain matter. In contrast, a CT scan indicating a brain tumor will show a distinct section of tissue, such as a mass in the left frontal lobe, that looks visually different from the surrounding healthy tissue.
