Non-compete clauses in low-wage sectors can be exceptionally restrictive, substantially limiting a worker's future employment prospects. For instance, such a clause could legally prevent a former McDonald's employee from accepting any job within the entire fast-food industry after leaving the company, whether they were fired or resigned.
