Example of a Token Economy in a Classroom

An application of a token economy can be seen in a classroom setting with young students. In this system, children receive a token for appropriate behaviors, such as 'quiet hands,' and may lose a token for inappropriate actions like hitting. These tokens can then be exchanged for a predetermined amount of a desirable activity, such as playtime, thereby reinforcing positive conduct.
