Example of Confirmation Bias in a Job Interview

An employer who holds a negative stereotype about a job applicant may demonstrate confirmation bias by overlooking the applicant's initial friendly demeanor and competent answers. Instead, the employer might fixate on the applicant's later, more withdrawn behavior—which was a reaction to the employer's own cold treatment—and use this selective observation as evidence to confirm their pre-existing negative stereotype.
