The Culture 500 methodology identified words that meant a reviewer was not talking about a specific topic. For example, vision typically refers to a company's strategy, unless it appears in a sentence with dental, pension, or 401(k), in which case it describes a company's benefits package.

The Culture 500 methodology incorporated company-specific language. In most companies, a shopper is a customer, but in Instacart a shopper is a worker.
