Existential Dependency on the Beloved in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh (Chapter 29, Poem 55)
In Chapter 29, Poem 55 of Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the speaker declares that living even for a single moment without the Beloved is impossible and undesirable. A soul that is celebrated by the entire world is deemed repulsive if it must exist without the Divine presence. This poem illustrates the Sufi concept of existential dependency, where true life and its meaning are entirely contingent upon the presence of the Beloved, rendering mere physical or worldly existence alone as worthless.
