Formally Deriving the Determinants of α_N Using Implicit Differentiation

The relationships between the unemployment utility of the Nth worker (α_N) and the variables N, q, and m can be proven more rigorously by applying the mathematical technique of implicit differentiation. This method provides a formal way to confirm that α_N is an increasing function of both the employment level (N) and the quit rate (q), and a decreasing function of the firm's meeting rate (m).
