Activity (Process)

Formation of Argininosuccinate (cytoplasm)

During the urea cycle, the formation of argininosuccinate occurs in the cytoplasm and is catalyzed by argininosuccinate synthetase. This reaction combines citrulline and aspartate to form argininosuccinate. The process requires ATP and is driven forward by the cleavage of pyrophosphate (PPi).
