Frictional Unemployment (Search Unemployment)

Frictional unemployment, also known as search unemployment, arises from the time, effort, and costs involved when firms and workers search for a suitable job match. Because workers and jobs are heterogeneous, this matching process is not immediate. Further expenses, such as for training or relocation, can emerge during match formation, potentially causing either the employer or the job seeker to prolong their search for a more ideal opportunity, thus contributing to this type of unemployment.
