Frontal Lobe Growth in Early Childhood

Between the ages of 3 and 6, the frontal lobes of the brain grow rapidly. Because the frontal lobes are associated with planning, reasoning, memory, and impulse control, this rapid growth means that by school age, children become developmentally capable of controlling their attention and behavior.
