Intrinsic motivation(IM) tends to motivate the student to engage with the gamification system, regardless of the specific type of intrinsic motivation. However, IM also tends to create a lack of engagement with the system when there is no ability to customize the experience, i.e. creating an avatar, quest, and working alone or with others.
