Gender Differences in Anhedonia
Researchers conducted a study using fMRI with the purpose of identifying any potential brain activity differences in male and female patients with anhedonia. The study featured three different groups of participants: 281 MDD patients with severe anhedonia, 133 MDD patients with low anhedonia, and 213 healthy individuals. The study results reflected clear differences, as the bilateral insula, right hippocampus, right post cingulum cortex, and left putamen experienced notable differences in activity depending on gender.
