Gender Identity vs. Race in Young Children

A 2017 study by Rogers and Meltzoff found that for diverse children whose average age was about 10 years old, gender identity was a more important factor than race in their choices. This indicates that for young children, the meaning of race is an evolving process, as opposed to the more active search for identity seen in adolescents.
