Relation

General Discussion

In Study 1, an additional category of operational stressors was included in the survey for PMIEs. This was replicated and analyzed even further in Study 2, where there was an analysis done to explain the relationships between PMIEs, psychological distress, and turnover intentions. The MHAT-CES scale measured the exposure to potentially morally injurious experiences, enhancing the network and research in the study of PMIEs. For Study 2, the hypothesis for PMIEs being related to service members' decision to leave the military organization due to psychological distress was supported. Even if there is no direct relationship, it is hypothesized that being exposed to PMIEs can impact a person's sense of morality and personal goodness. This is because they start to feel negative emotions such as shame, guilt, and emotional distress after. To increase mental health support and attempt to decrease the amount of psychological distress, more programs and training before deployment need to be implemented to better prepare military personnel for the problematic events they will encounter during their deployment time.
