The most commmon sign of granulomatous amoebic encephalitis are brain lesions that are due to the pathogen invading the central nervous system. These are detected by MRI or CT scans.

Signs and Symptoms of Granulomatous Amoebic Encephalitis

Granulomatous amoebic encephalitis are caused by *Acanthamoeba* and *Balamuthia* amoebae species that live in fresh water. This is a rare disease and only severe cases cause granulomatous amoebic encephalitis but it is usually fatal.
