Grayscale Vision (Rod Monochromacy)

An extremely rare form of color deficiency involves seeing the world only in shades of black and white, a condition known as grayscale vision or rod monochromacy. This occurs in individuals whose retinas contain only rod photoreceptors. The complete absence of cone cells not only prevents color perception but also results in very low visual acuity.
