Happiness Set Point
The happiness set point refers to an individual's baseline level of happiness. While there has been debate about their stability, research now indicates that these set points are not permanently fixed. Evidence from multiple investigations shows that significant life events can cause long-term, and in some cases permanent, alterations to a person's baseline happiness.
