Home environment and education and its relation to disparate outcomes in the COVID-19 pandemic

Students with parents who are educated and have a higher-educational degree may have benefits over students who do not. Educated parents may hold their children to relatively high academic standards, while non-educated parents may undervalue the importance of maintaining academic standards for their children. It is not to say that educated parents are better than non-educated parents. In fact, it is a matter of the parents being aware of and having experience navigating the same situations as their children’s, and recognizing that education is important despite hardships. Furthermore, children with non-educated parents may not be getting the same support that children with educated parents have while attending school online.
