Horizontal Parabola

A horizontal parabola is a parabola that opens either to the left or to the right. Its equation is derived by interchanging the xx and yy variables in the equations for vertical parabolas. Because a vertical line can intersect a horizontal parabola at more than one point, its graph fails the vertical line test and therefore does not represent a mathematical function.
