Hydrogenosomes

Double-membrane-bound, mitochondrial-related organelles found in some anaerobic eukaryotes that serve as the location for anaerobic hydrogen production used in cellular metabolism. These organelles typically lack their own DNA and ribosomes and are believed to have evolved from ancestral mitochondria.
