This anecdote belongs to the chapter of witticisms in Jami's Baharestan. A witty man jokes to someone whose face has grown unusually hairy, urging him to pluck the hairs before his face 'turns into a head' (a scalp).

The humor and the accompanying qet'a rest on two devices:

• Hyperbole (mobalegheh): if the man does not remove the hair daily with tweezers (moochineh), within a few days his face will grow so overgrown that it 'takes on the ruling (hokm) of a head'.
• Wordplay between roy (face) and sar (head/scalp): the comic force comes from collapsing the distinction between the smooth face and the hair-covered scalp.

The piece also reflects the classical Persian ideal of the smooth, beardless face as a standard of beauty, here inverted into a comic warning about that beauty being lost to spreading hair.
