Identify Ability-Based Exclusion

Exclusion can also be the result of certain situations that can make a user unable to use a product.  "For example, if a user is watching a video without closed captions at a noisy airport, they may not be able to hear the audio. This airport noise disrupts their user experience, and if too loud can exclude the user from using the product all together. In this example, the design did not include an alternative use for this situation. In this instance, adding closed captioning would be more inclusive."

Identify Situational Challenges

Involving people from different communities can minimize biases affecting your designs.  This is why usability testing is important.

Avoid Personal Biases

Users that are given different options "can choose a method that best serves them in their unique circumstances."

Offer Various Ways to Engage

"Ensure experiences are comparable when designing different ways for people to engage with your product or service. Just because you meet accessibility standards does not mean you have offered a usable or comparable experience."
