Impact of Market Power on the Price-Setting Curve

An increase in firms' market power, whether in the markets for goods and services or in the labor market, leads to a reduction in the real wage. This occurs because greater market power enables firms to capture a larger share of the output per worker as profit, consequently causing a downward shift of the price-setting (PS) curve.
