Implications for Research
The two studies conducted have offered areas of research that further explore the ethical and moral challenges that military personnel experience while deployed in terms of psychological issues. This research specifically focused on the relationship between PMIEs and turnover intentions or the urge to leave the organization. The findings found that PMIEs can be very impactful to psychological distress and withdrawal from work. There are different events and experiences that military personnel have while they are deployed that can affect them once they are done. Due to the severe gravity of being in the military, there are ethical and moral principles that the members have to abide by while having to push aside their own beliefs. This leads to the need for pre-and post-deployment programs that would allow military personnel to prepare for deployment and settle back into society after experiencing harsh realities. Unless this is an area of focus within mental health research, military personnel will be impacted more severely and be left without support.
