Implicit Theories and Self-Stereotyping
Self-stereotyping is the process of aligning a persons' self-perception with social characteristics or norms. This could be done as a way for individuals to fit themselves into the world.
When people who followed an entity view of the world connected with groups they viewed positively, self-stereotyping was accentuated. In the same scenario individuals with an incremental view had an even stronger accentuation of self-stereotyping.
This may suggest that belief in entity theory of the world may help orient individuals to find social groups to fit in with, while a more malleable incremental view can help to facilitate this process.
