Improved Global Functioning Level as a Result of Increased Occipital Alpha and Theta Brain Waves for Patients with GAD
A study detected whether an increase in the amplitude of theta and alpha brain waves correlated to an improved global functioning level for patients with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Subjects in the study increased the amplitude of their theta and alpha brain waves through consciously controlling their brain activity through experience with neurofeedback (specifically audio feedback). The study demonstrated that neurofeedback training is successful in diminishing the mental and physical symptoms of GAD.
