A primary cell culture is a cell culture prepared directly from animal organs or tissues using mechanical scraping, mincing, or enzymatic digestion to isolate cells. Due to anchorage dependency, these cells must attach to a solid surface (such as glass or plastic) in a liquid medium to grow, and they generally exhibit a limited lifespan.
