- Children with low levels of inhibitory control one year had higher amounts of teacher-child conflict the following year.
- Children with higher teacher-child conflict one year showed lower levels of inhibition the following year in early elementary school.
- The cycle of lower inhibition leading to higher teacher-child conflict and then leading to lower inhibition shows that this association is reciprocal and has lasting effects for the children developmentally. 
- This reciprocal association was mediated by inattention and aggressive behavior. This could be because both are caused by having lower inhibition.
