Test takers are asked to integrate information from the graphic and the passage. Questions about this information are part of the integration of knowledge and ideas reporting category. 

Visual and Quantitative Information in the ACT Reading Test

Test takers are asked to understand the author's claims, differentiate between fact and opinion, use evidence to make connections between different texts, analyze how the author makes arguments, and evaluate reasoning and evidence from multiple sources. This reporting category represents 13 to 18 percent of the total reading score.

Reading test description for the ACT

The test taker is asked to determine word and phrase meanings, analyze the author's rhetoric and text structure, understand the author's purpose and perspective, analyze characters' points of view, and differentiate between various perspectives and sources of information.. This reporting category represents 25 to 30 percent of the total reading score. 

Craft and Structure in the ACT Reading Test

The test taker is asked to identify central ideas and themes, draw inferences, summarize passage segments, and understand sequential, comparative, and cause/effect relationships. These reporting category represents 55 to 60 percent of the total reading score.
