Short Answer

Interpreting Consumption Trade-offs

An individual has an initial endowment of (100 units for consumption now, 0 units for consumption later). The 'reservation indifference curve' represents all consumption combinations that provide the same level of satisfaction as this endowment. Suppose the point (99 units for consumption now, 2 units for consumption later) is also on this curve. Based on these two points, explain what can be inferred about the individual's willingness to substitute consumption from the present to the future when they are near their initial endowment.
