This group therapy is an adaptation of CBT that targets the intolerance of uncertainty component of GAD.  As the name suggests, this group is focused on understanding and overcoming struggles with incessant worrying.  Specific adaptations for the older adult population include slower pace, time for group discussions, and the use of memory aids.

"Overcoming Worry" group therapy for older adults

This model describes the development and maintenance of GAD.  It consists of four components: intolerance-of-uncertainty, positive beliefs about worry, poor problem orientation, and cognitive avoidance.  In this model, intolerance of uncertainty drives the other three components and results in the development/maintenance of GAD.
